Essential Oils Are Nothing New....

Updated: Aug 18, 2021

A must on your healing journey!

So let's start right back at the beginning. Did you know that aromatic plants were used by the Sumerians way back between 3000-4000 BC, leaving the first known perfume recipes on clay tablets? In 2500 BC the Chinese Emperor, Shen Nung, identified the medicinal uses for over 300 plants. 400 - 1000 BC, Frankincense became the largest trade commodity in ancient Arabia. Greek Physicians used aromatic plants medicinally, believing they were divine inventions of the Gods between 150 - 800 BC, and all the way upto 1937, when the French Chemist, Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, published 'Aromatherapie', which emphasizes the therapeutic value of essential oils, especially Lavender.

So as you can see, natural aromatic plant products have been the backbone of healing throughout the globe, being the basis for many pharmaceutical drugs used today, as well as an integral part of history and culture, being used in religion, marriage ceremonies, dating and courtship, cosmetics, medicine and many other aspects of human life. Although the use of essential oils has evovled over the years, the basic principles remain the same. From the beginning of time, oils extracted from aromatic plants have been recognised as the most effective medicine known to mankind.

Essential oils have been a big part of my own life since I was in my teens, never liking the harsh smell of perfumes. So that's where my own journey of wanting natural products started. Making my own natural creams with the essential oils, using them to create beautiful smells that would create a sense of calm, to later using them on my babies as they grew up - both my boys had asthmatic tendancies, and one of them also had croup, so the essential oils were a 'life saver' many times over! I always had Lemon essential oil to make my own cleaning products too, not liking the feeling in my chest from using shop bought household products.

Today, I still use my essential oils and even more than I ever did before. I've grown up, and essential oils have grown up too! I now have over 60 different pure tested powerful essential oils - yes, I use them all personally, and for my clients - all of the oils have a different chemical makeup, so it means that I have many different choices of oils to work with on a specific issue, giving the body the support it needs to be able to heal itself. Essential oils work like gardening. Have you ever tried pulling a weed out of soil that is dry with the root still attached Well, the essential oil helps to 'water the ground', so that you can get to the root of an emotion to let go of pain and illness that maybe troubling you.

Every oil has it's own frequency/vibration/information, so when I work with my family, friends or my clients, I can give them a health and wellness scan, and in turn, know exactly the right oil to use to help them to release an emotion, that emotion will also have a frequency/vibration/information. This can work very well using AromaTouch Hand Massage, using the meridian lines in the hands, or even using them under the feet, where you have thousands of nerve endings, using a specific oil that is right for you at that moment, on that day. As an energy healer, I like to talk about the therapies that I do on an energetic level, afterall, that's what we all are, so it makes sense for me to explain it in this way, so that you will understand why some oils work better at certain times, and not at others, as our energy levels can change in every moment.

Our emotions have a major impact on our life, our body and how we respond in everyday life. So, wouldn't you agree that if you could use something so simple to help you to have an easier, less chaotic, pain free life, you'd jump at the chance wouldn't you? Anchoring to an oil, can be a very powerful way to bring yourself into a calm state, in the moment. So, what do I mean by this? The smell of a particular scent can take you back to the memory of your Grandmother that you adored, or freshly baked bread that you remember from childhood, and you feel that emotion as if you were still there. So if you use a specific essential oil whilst meditating, visualising or going through hypnotherapy, over 30 days, your brain can create a message that when you inhale that oil, you will feel calm, excited, inspired or whatever feeling you anchored the oil to. How amazing is that!

Using specific oils along the spine, inhaling and then at the bottom of your feet during a Spinal Energy Technique, cannot only relieve stress, pain and anxiety, but can also help the body to detox from past emotions that are making you ill today. I have 18 different protocols for many different illnesses, so that you can support your new healthier lifestyle giving your body the best chance to create its magic! A gradual process of letting go, relaxing more, sleeping better and opening up to a knowing that your body, your energy, is capable of the most beautiful healing when you nurture it, give it love, nourish it and value who you are and who you are meant to be.

Animals and Essential Oils

If you now understand what happens when you use an essential oil on yourself, imagine how helpful it is when you use it on your pets! I don't know about you, but my vets bills were expensive before I had a better understanding on how to use them on my cats and dogs. Obviously, it's important to see your vet if you are concerned, but if like mine, it's usually a cut, something in a paw, or even a urinary infection in my cat, I have an oil for that! There's a really good book that has really helped me called 'SpOil Your Pet', I've popped a link at the bottom of this page for you. Or if you'd like to have a chat with me, please do get in touch.

The Top 10 Must-Have Oils

Frankincense - Its soothing and beautifying properties are used to rejuvenate skin and help reduce the appearance of imperfections when applied topically. As the king of oils, Frankincense is known to support healthy cellular, immune, nervous, and digestive function when used internally

Lavender - Diffuse a few drops to ease into sleep, add a drop to your moisturizer for a soothing boost, or add to water and tea to ease tense feelings.

Peppermint - The peppermint plant is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint and was first discovered by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. A high menthol content—like that found in Peppermint essential oil—distinguishes the best quality Peppermint oil from other products. Frequently used in toothpaste and chewing gum for oral hygiene, Peppermint oil also helps alleviate occasional stomach upset and promotes healthy respiratory function when taken internally. When used with a drop of Wild Orange it gives you a sense of calm, whilst creating uplifting feelings.

Tea Tree - Tea Tree essential oil has over 90 different compounds and limitless applications. The leaves of the Tea Tree have been used by the Aboriginal peoples of Australia for centuries. They would apply crushed leaves directly to the skin for a cooling effect. Tea Tree is best known for its purifying properties. It can be used to cleanse and purify the skin and nails and to support a healthy looking complexion. Tea Tree is used on occasional skin irritations to soothe the skin and diffusing Tea Tree will help freshen the air

On Guard - On Guard, a proprietary essential oil blend, provides a natural and effective alternative for immune support when used internally. On Guard protects against environmental and seasonal threats with essential oils known for their positive effects on the immune system when ingested. Can be taken internally on a daily basis to maintain healthy immune function. It can also be used on surfaces throughout the home as a non-toxic cleaner. When diffused, it helps purify the air, and can be very energizing and uplifting. Wild Orange Peel, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Leaf, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Leaf, and Rosemary Leaf/Flower essential oils

Lemon - Drink with water to cleanse your body, give your respiratory system support, and help with digestion. In addition, add to water in a spray bottle to clean household surfaces

Oregano - this oil is one of the most potent and powerful essential oils and has been used for centuries in traditional practices. The primary chemical components of Oregano is carvacrol, a phenol that possesses antioxidant properties when ingested. Due to its high phenol content, caution should be taken when inhaling or diffusing, only one to two drops is needed. Additionally, Oregano oil should be diluted with a carrier oil when applied to the skin. One drop taken internally each day can help maintain healthy immune function; Oregano oil can be taken more frequently as needed to further support the immune system. In addition to being a popular cooking spice, Oregano oil also supports healthy digestion and respiratory function when taken internally. Oregano oil's aroma acts as an enhancer and equalizer in essential oil blends

Air - This minty, invigorating blend has a calming and soothing effect when applied topically. Air is enriched with a combination of oils meant to help cool and enliven the body, providing you with feelings of clear airways. Laurel Leaf, Peppermint Plant, Eucalyptus Leaf/Stem, Melaleuca Leaf, Lemon Peel, Ravensara Leaf, Cardamom Seed essential oils

Deep Blue - Deep Blue is perfect for a soothing massage after a long day of work. Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus work together to soothe and cool. After long hours on the computer, try rubbing Deep Blue proprietary blend on your fingers, wrists, shoulders, and neck. A few drops of Deep Blue Soothing Blend diluted in doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil can be part of a cooling and comforting massage.

Which Essential Oils do I use?

Now I can tell you, I have used many brands of essential oils over a great many years. I have looked at the science, done indepth research, met the owners, checked out third party testing, and I can tell you that doTERRA was absolutely the company that I fell in lovewith because of everything they stand for, how they serve the farmers they use, the water systems that have been installed in Haiti, providing them with clean water, the classrooms that have been built in rural Africa helping over 14,000 school children, helping to end sex-trafficking via a nonprofit organization called Operation Underground Railroad (OUR Rescue) that has now been established as an official partner of the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation. OUR Rescue is dedicated to rescuing children around the world from sex trafficking and slavery. In 2016 alone, doTERRA donated $500,000 to the organization by selling Hope essential oil blend

The blend was originally manufactured solely for OUR Rescue to distribute to at-risk children. The original oil label peeled-back to reveal a list of hotline numbers so that at-risk children could call for help.

Due to the high demand of the doTERRA Hope Blend at its release, however, it was determined that this blend would be available for individual sale as well. Although the blend was repackaged for sale to remove the peel back feature, the original oil with the original label continues to be donated to OUR Rescue by doTERRA to promote the efforts of their organization.

....and the list of Wellness Advocates that have set up charities with the help of doTERRA is endless, so feel free to explore too!

For me, this said everything about the oils that I use every day, the company, and all of us who work with doTERRA. I feel truly blessed
